| Pedro Almodóvar Caballero es un director de cine y uno de los españoles más populares del mundo. Nacio el 24 septiembre de 1951 en Calzada de Calatrava, un pequeño pueblo en la comunidad de Ciudad Real. Creció en una familia de arrieros. Estaba rodeado de mujeres, lo que todavía influencia sus películas.
Porque no podía matricularse en la Escuela de Cine en Madrid, empezó a trabajar en una tienda de Telefónica. En 1985 fundó, con su hermano, la productora “El Deseo”. Unas de sus primeras películas son La Ley del Deseo en 1986 y Mujeres al borde de un ataque de nervios en 1988. En aquella época Almodóvar fue nominado por primera vez para los Oscars (en la categoría: mejor película en lengua extranjera). En 1999 ganó su primer Oscar en la misma categoria con Todo sobre mi madre. Tres años después siguio otro con Hable con ella. Además de este éxito en los E.E.U.U., casi todas sus películas ganaron premios en España y el resto de Europa. Por ejemplo fue premiado con cinco premios BAFTA y tres Goyas. Las mujeres de sus películas son muy fuertes y estremecen las tradiciones. La influencia de las mujeres en sus obras también es visible en las relaciones que Almodóvar tiene con sus actrizes. Sus musas más importantes son Carmen Maura y Penélope Cruz, que actuan en casi todas sus películas. Los papeles que Almodóvar escribe o elige para ellas, describen mujeres, que saben sobrevivir con éxito a situaciones difíciles. Pedro Almodóvar y sus obras ya son una leyenda. Pedro Almodóvar Caballero is a director of cinema and one of the most popular stars of the spanish cinema. He was born on 24th of September in 1951 in Calzada de Calatrava, a small village in the community of Ciudad Real. He grew up in a traders family with a big presence of women, which still affects to his movies.
Because he wasn’t able to register for the School of Cinema in Madrid, he started to work in a shop of Telefónica. In 1985 he founded together with his brother the production company “El Deseo” (The Wish). Some of the first published movies were Law of Desire in 1986 and Women on the Verge of a nervous Breakwown in 1988. This movie also provoked the first contact, Almodóvar had with an Oscar because it was nominated in the category Best foreign language film. In 1999 he won his first Oscar in the same category with All about my Mother. Three years later he won the next one for Talk to Her. Besides his succes in the United States, alomst every of his movies also won awards in Spain and the rest of Europe. For example their were awarded with five awards of BAFTA and three Goya. As you can see the influence of women in his movies, as they radiate a strong naturalness which destroy every law of Costumbrismo. Like women affected his work, you also notice the relations Almodóvar has got to his actors. His most important muses are Carmen Maura and Penelopé Cruz, who are in almost every of his movies. Not just in his life the director is accompanied by strong women, also in the roles which Almodóvar writes or elects for these actors, describe women, who know how to survive succesfully in hard times.
