| Cada año las fechas de este festival cambian; este año empieza el 4 de junio y dura hasta el 10 de junio. Es el festival más importante en Granada porque fue creado, como la fiesta mayor, por los Reyes Católicos después de la conquista de la ciudad. Tiene una historia muy larga y es muy famoso por toda España.
Aunque principalmente es una fiesta religiosa hay una gran feria con danzas, gigantones, tarascas y mucha fiesta. Los granadinos se enorgullecen del festival de Corpus Christi y cada año hay más cosas para ver y hacer. El día más importante es el día del Corpus, el 7 de Junio, y hay acontecimientos distintos durante todo el día. Hay procesiones por la ciudad y la mayoría de gente pasa el día en las calles y La Plaza Bib-Rambla donde hay una feria y un mercado con muchos puestos. Las mujeres se visten en faralaes (o gitana) y los hombres de campero. Si quieres ver la cultura tradicional de Granada ven al festival de Corpus Christi y únete a las fiestas. |
This year the festival begins on the 4th June and finishes on the 10th of June, every year the dates change. It is the most important festival in Granada because after the conquest of the city, the Catholic Monarchy founded it as the main celebration of the “freedom” and Christianity of the city. The fiesta is very famous and has a long history that stretches over hundreds of years.Although, traditionally it is a religious festival, the celebration has evolved into a grand fair and exhibition of Granadian culture and tradition. If you are in Granada during the festivities you will see dances, giant puppets, dragons and a lot of partying. The people of Granada are very proud of this event and every year there are many new and different things to see and do.
The most important day is the 7th June, Corpus Christi Day. There are processions through the city and most people spend their time in the streets enjoying the festivities or in Bib-Ramba Square where there is a fair and a market with many different stalls.
