As a student, I cannot even begin to count the number of hours that I have spent with my head in a grammar book, wishing that I was a native Spanish speaker (that´s right, you´re not the only one!). Lately, I´ve come to realize that this is definitely not the best way to go about my studies and actually, I need to get out into the world!

Being able to put what I have learned in my classes into practice on a daily basis has been excellent preparation for my year abroad, starting in September. I still have 10 weeks left here in Granada and I can already say that I am certain that my level of Spanish will be miles above where it was when I stepped on the plane in Bristol! Como estudiante, no puedo contar las horas que he pasado estudiando el manual de gramática española, deseando ser un hablante nativo de español ( como ves, ¡no eres el único!) Últimamente me he dado cuenta de que esta no es la mejor manera de estudiar y, en realidad, necesito dar la vuelta al mundo.
Podemos estar sentados durante horas estudiando manuales de gramática, pero lo que necesitamos de verdad es vivir la vida española. Tener la posibilidad de estudiar español por las mañanas y explorar Andalucía por las tardes, ir de tapas por las noches y viajar hacia otras ciudades en los fines de semana te ayudará a mejorar tu nivel de español y tu conocimiento de la cultura española.
He tenido un curso intensivo de español durante dos semanas en la Escuela Delengua, una escuela de lengua situada en el corazón de Granada, en un laberinto de calle estrechas y tradicionales(¿) /históricas llenas de sabores, olores y vistas de toda España.
Hay una fuerte influencia árabe en todos los sitios donde vayas y esa es una magnífica oportunidad para descubrir como el español deriva de la lengua árabe.
