La Plaza Nueva de Granada se construyó en la época cristiana para cubrir el Río Darro que fluye por debajo y también para crear más espacio en la ciudad. La llamaron “nueva” porque fue la primera que crearon en el siglo XVI. Es la plaza más antigua de la ciudad y se convirtió en uno de los lugares más importantes de Granada, se dice que se celebraban torneos y corridas de toros en la plaza y también las ejecuciones públicas.Desde Plaza Nueva se puede subir a la Alhambra por la calle Cuesta de Gomérez y también se puede subir al barrio del Albaicín por las callejuelas que rodean la Cancillería, y por la Carrera del Darro, dejando a la derecha la Iglesia de Santa Ana. A su alrededor se elevan varios edificios de importancia, como la Real Cancillería y la Casa de los Pisa. La fuente elegante de la plaza fue construida en el siglo XVI y es el último trabajo conocido por el arquitecto renacentista Diego de Siloé, llamado Pilar del Toro. La Plaza Nueva tiene muchos restaurantes donde se pueden comer tapas gratis al sol en las terrazas y también hay muchos hoteles a su alrededor. La Plaza está animada durante el día y por la noche. Escuela Delengua se sitúa cerca de ésta maravillosa plaza. La escuela de español es un sitio perfecto para aprender español porque está en pleno centro de la ciudad de Granada.

Plaza Nueva was built in the Christian era in order to cover the River Darro which flows beneath it and also to create more space in the city. They called it “nueva” because it was the first one that they built in the XVI century. The plaza is the oldest in the city and it became one of the most important in Granada, it is said that they celebrated tournaments and bullfights in the plaza and also public executions. From Plaza Nueva you can get up to the Alhambra by the street, Cuesta de Goméres and also you can get up to the Albaicin area through the narrow streets that circle the chancery, and by the Carrera del Darro, to the right of the church of Santa Ana. In its surroundings there are many important buildings, like the royal chancery and the Casa de los Pisa. The elegant fountain in the plaza was built in the XVI century and it is the last known work by the Renaissance architect Diego de Siloé, it is called Pilar del Toro. Plaza Nueva has many restaurants where you can eat free tapas in the sun from the terraces and there are also many hotels which surround it. The plaza is lively during the day and at night, Esuela Delengua is situated near the plaza. The Spanish language school is a perfect place to learn Spanish because it is right in the centre of the city of Granada.
