El municipio de Pinos Puente está situado en la provincia de Granada en Andalucía y se extiende a los pies de la vertiente oeste de la Sierra Elvira. El río Cubillas corre por la localidad. En cuanto a su historia posee restos arquitectónicos de su pasado árabe, como por ejemplo un puente. Los alrededores de Pinos Puente ofrecen excursiones interesantes, sobre todo para gente a la que le guste la paisaje y la arquitectura rural. Son lugares ideales para el paseo en bicicleta, aunque la proximidad de Sierra Elvira también ofrece la oportunidad de practicar parapente y ala delta. El poeta Federico García Lorca nació en el pueblo cercano Fuente Vaqueros, y de niño vivió en la población de Pinos Puente. La casa familiar del poeta y dramaturgo ha sido restaurada y abierta al público como museo para su visita. Fue en este pueblo donde empezó su estudio literario, donde escribió algunas de sus principales obras de juventud y donde se inspiró más tarde para dar al teatro una de sus mejores obras dramáticas, ‘La casa de Bernarda Alba’. Pinos Puente alcanza notoriedad histórica por su relación con el “Descubrimiento” de América. Cuando Cristóbal Colón fue a Francia, convencido ya de que los Reyes Católicos no le darían el aval necesario para su viaje, fue mandado a encontrarse con Isabel la Católica en Pinos Puente. Allí, la reina confirmó a financiar su viaje. La rica gastronomía se nutre de los productos de sus terrenos, con los cultivos de hortalizas. Los embutidos, las migas y el gazpacho son platos típicos del municipio. Además son tradicionales los guisos con habas y los fideos a la cazuela. Escuela Delengua está una escuela de español que se sitúa en la ciudad de Granada, cerca de Pinos Puente. Hay varios pueblos bonitos e interesantes en la región de Andalucía y si hace un curso de español en Escuela Delengua es fácil viajar desde Granada por todo de Andalucía.

Pinos Puente is situated in the province of Granada in Andalusia and it extends to the foot of the western slope of the Sierra Elvira. The Cubillas river runs through the town. With regards to its history, it has architectural remains form its Arabic past, like a bridge for example. The surrounding area of Pinos Puente offers interesting exursions, above all for those who like the countryside and rural architecture. There are ideal places for a bike ride, although the proximity of the Sierra Elvira also offers the opportunity to go paragliding and hang gliding. The poet Federico García Lorca was born nearby in Fuente Vaqueros and afterwards he lived as a child in the town of Pinos Puente. The family house of the poet and dramatist has been restored and opened to the public as a museum for visiters. It was in this town where he started his literary studies, where he wrote some of his main works from his youth and where he was later inspired to give one of his best dramatic works ‘La casa de Bernarda Alba’ to the theatre. Pinos Puente reaches historical notoriety for its relation to the discovery of America. When Christopher Columbus was on route to France already convinced that the Catholic Kings would not give him the necessary support for his voyage, he was sent to look for the Catholic Queen Isabel and they met in Pinos Fuente where she confirmed to finance his trip. The rich gastronomy is nourished from the products of its land, with the growing of vegetables. The sausages, breadcrumbs and the gazpacho are typical dishes in the area. They are traditional as are the stews with broad beans and the casseroles. Escuela Delengua is a Spanish language school that is situated in the city of Granada, near to Pinos Puente. There are various beautiful and interesting towns in the region of Andalusia and if you do a Spanish course at Escuela Delengua it is easy to travel from Granada all around Andalusia.

Granada es un lugar ideal para ir de compras y dejarse llevar recorriendo sus calles visitando tiendas y mercadillos. Viviendo en tierra de artesanos, los granadinos son expertos en la fabricación de productos como las guitarras artesanales, la alfarería y la taracea – lujosa y detallista ebanistería que consiste en decorar muebles, cajas o cualquier objeto con dibujos geométricos formados con centenares de minúsculos trozos de hueso, plata y maderas nobles. La alfarería conserva artes nazaríes y andalusíes, que se encuentran en jarras, platos y cántaros decorados de verde y azul. El barrio del Albaicín es la zona de Granada que concentra a más artesanos. En el centro de Granada existen modernos y amplios centros comerciales con numerosas tiendas. Existen varias tiendas muy conocidas idóneas para comprar la ropa, como Zara y Mango, y acaba de abrir una de H&M en la calle principal. Otra zona interesante para ir de compras son los aledaños de Plaza Nueva. Sus comercios están adaptados a los gustos occidentales, pero aún así se respira un aire árabe por sus puestos de perfumes nazaríes, cosmética natural y ropa de los años 60. En el antiguo zoco de la Alcaicería se pueden encontrar las tiendas con los recuerdos más típicos de Granada. También hay un montón de joyas de todo tipo a buenos precios. Además, por todo la ciudad hay mercadillos con verduras y frutas frescas y flores bonitas. Escuela Delengua es una escuela de español que está ubicada en pleno centro de la ciudad de Granada, el zoco está a la vuelta de la esquina. Hay mucho que hacer en la ciudad de Granada y por eso es un lugar ideal para hacer un curso de español.

 Granada is an ideal place to go shopping and to spend time walking through all its streets visiting shops and markets.
Living in a land of artisans, the people of Granada are experts at making artisan guitars, pottery, and “taracea” which is the name for the precise works that consist of decorating furniture, boxes, or whatever object with geometrical drawings created by hundreds of tiny pieces of bone, silver and fine wood. The pottery preserves some of the Nazari and Andalusian art work found on the jars, plates and jugs which are decorated in green and blue. The Albayzin district is the area of Granada with the most artisan markets.
In the centre of Granada there are modern and spacious shopping centres with numerous shops. There are various well known shops perfect for clothes shopping, like Zara and Mango, and H&M has just opened on the high street.
Another interesting area to go to the shops is the outskirts of the Plaza Nueva. The shops are adapted to the western tastes, but they still breath an Arabic air with its Nazari perfume posts, natural cosmetics and clothes from the 60′s. In the old Moroccan market place of Alcaicería you can find shops with the most typical souvenirs of Granada. In the Moroccan market you can also find a huge amount of jewellery, of all kinds and at a good price. What’s more, little markets with fresh fruit, vegetables and beautiful flowers are spread all over the city. Escuela Delengua is a Spanish school situated in the very centre of Granada. The “zoco” is just around the corner. There is plenty to do in Granada, that’s why it is the ideal place to do a Spanish course.

A sólo 40 kilómetros de Granada se encuentra Sierra Nevada. Ahí está la cumbre más alta de la Península Ibérica, el Mulhacén, que se eleva a 3480 metros. Su nombre viene de Mulay Hasan, que fue el penúltimo rey de Granada en el siglo XV. Se dice que este rey fue enterrado en los montes del Mulhacén. Sierra Nevada se puede ver también desde el centro de Granada. Desde los miradores, por ejemplo el mirador de San Nicolás, que se encuentra a sólo 10 minutos de la Escuela Delengua, se tiene una vista maravillosa a las montañas cubiertas de nieve. Quizás te sorprenda que se pueda esquiar tan cerca del centro de Granada, una ciudad que es conocida por el sol y el buen tiempo. Pero la verdad es que en Granada puedes esquiar en Sierra Nevada por la mañana y pasar la tarde tomando el sol en las playas de la Costa Tropical. Cada fin de semana, las estaciones de esquí de Sierra Nevada acogen a más de siete mil personas que quieren disfrutar de la nieve. Y si a ti no te gusta esquiar, ¿por qué no disfrutas de la nieve con un tobogán o un paseo en un trineo de perros? Se puede hacer todo esto y mucho más en Granada, puesto que practicar el esquí no es lo único que se puede hacer en Sierra Nevada en invierno. Aparte de las estaciones de esquí existen numerosas rutas de senderismo para los apasionados de la naturaleza. Así que, si te gusta la naturaleza y el senderismo, no te pierdas la ocasión de caminar en la montaña ya que está sólo a 1 hora de Granada. Con la nieve, Sierra Nevada se convierte en un lugar completamente diferente, y no creerás que estés en España. So, if you like nature and going hiking, don’t miss this opportunity to walk through the mountains only 1 hour away from Granada.
